Country Style Weddings

There’s a special kind of ease and elegance when it comes to country weddings…but what to wear?
Published 29 April

A country wedding requires a few additional considerations when it comes to your decision around what to wear, so before you hit the shops, keep the following in mind:

  • Will the ceremony and after party celebrations take place indoors or outdoors?
  • Ladies, opt for a wedged or block heel… chances are at least part of the day will be spent outside and we don’t want you sinking into the ground.
  • If the wedding is during the winter months, consider incorporating a jacket or throw as the night air cools.

Frock up

Cocktail style and mid-length dresses are a great option for events that take you into the great outdoors (floor length can be tricky for obvious reasons).

This season we are enjoying some of the bold pops of colour in store with interesting details in cut and design. Head to Sheike and Florence and Marabel for some show stoppers.

Of course, a beautifully cut little black dress will never fail, and adding a little lace will take your little black dress to French chic in no time - head to Myer and you will find some beautiful options from
Wayne Cooper and Review.

Layers can work wonders for a country style event, so consider how you can incorporate a beautiful long line coat, or the glamour of faux fur into your outfit; a beautiful option over a pleated skirt and statement shirt for the ultimate in sophistication; this ensemble from Country Road is without doubt one of our favourites.

Pants

Not just for the guys…a wide leg pant with a statement top is the ultimate in comfort and chic - that rare combination we are constantly in pursuit of. We are loving the geometric print which is definitely having a moment right now. Head to Seed for the look on the runway

Our gentleman are also spoilt for choice at Grand Central with an array of retailers such as MJ Bale, Peter Jackson and new comers to menswear Trenery.

If it’s classic and comfortable you are looking for, chino’s paired back with linen is a popular choice and be sure to grab a blazer to elevate your style. If you consider yourself somewhat of a style setter, head to MJ Bale for something that will set you apart from the crowd - this season we are loving their velvet dinner jacket and with a statement piece like this, you can afford to keep the rest of your outfit simple with a classic pant and shoe.

With so many options available we have pulled together even more style inspiration which you can view on our digital runway in the fashion precinct, this month filmed at the absolutely gorgeous Aberfeldy farm.
